NAIROBI county has reported 201 cholera cases between February 28th to April 17th of which 52% of the were male and 42 percent female.50 of the report cases are from Nairobi hospital with a number being the hospital’s staff.
According to county executive of health Nairobi county Mohammad Gadane Kenyatta hospital recorded 6 patients the same number recorded at Mama Lucy Hospital. In a public notice published in local dailies Gadane said that the county has activated and open cholera treated centers for admission at Mama Lucy Hospital, Mbagathi Hospital, Riruta Health center, Mathare hospital and Mukuru kwa Njenga health center.
He said that the county government in collaboration with other partners has put interventions in place to prevent and control further cholera transmission. Nationally Kenya has reported 1350 cholera cases between January 1st to 16th of this month. Of this 72 were confirmed positive through laboratory test. All public hospitals and facilities are on high alert for cholera.
